After fighting in World War II and Viet Nam, Black men returned to a segregated America where they were discriminated against and could not find meaningful employment. Black men, were, however, usually the best in competitive sports. This piece demonstrates the difference between black men praised for their athletic prowess and vilified in a society where police brutality and police violence went, and for the most part, remains unchecked.
