Police brutality has been an ongoing, epidemic problem in the U.S. since the invention of police cars, sirens, and red and blue lights. For most black Americans, having a police car behind them increases their heart rate dramatically. In this piece, the artist places the police figure in an aggressive, menacing position that the swinging of his baton and the position of his body will cause the maximum amount of damage. There is no difference between the baton swing the bias and racism blacks feel in their relationship with law enforcement. When a traffic stop can lead to a fatal confrontation, or one’s cell phone is mistaken for a weapon, the fear is justified.
