Derek Chauvin, the former Minneapolis police officer convicted of murder in the death of George Floyd, was sentenced to 22 and a half years in prison. The officer placed his knee on the neck of George Floyd for at least nine minutes which contributed to his death. People protested and were outraged. But the death of unarmed black men at the hands of law enforcement continues.
His initial contact with law enforcement occurred after a store owner called police, accusing Geroge Floyd of attempting to make a purchase with a counterfeit 20-dollar bill.
