“Party Loyalty”

There is no mistaking the face of Jim Jones, the infamous founder of the People’s Temple. After the killing of a US Congressman and others in Guyana, he instructed his followers to drink cyanide-laced Flavor Aid (Not Kool-Aid). “Drinking the Kool-Aid” has become synonymous with blind loyalty to a person or cause. The 2021 Insurrection was a shining example of how people, so steeped in their blind allegiance, would commit criminal acts against their own country. This “Kool-Aid” effect is also demonstrated in the current congress, where congress men and woman and senators refuse to support legislation proposed by the opposite party.
