Sally was enthusiastic when she arrived at work on a Monday morning. “Oh my god!” she exclaimed, as her work mates surrounded around her. “Guess what?” she said, as she became animated. “You’ll never believe this, but on Saturday, on my way home from the opera, I saw this beautiful dog running around in the street and she almost got hit…and I let the drive of the car that almost hit her have it!” I said, “You stupid idiot, you almost ran over the dog!” Then I said to myself, “Oh my God! I have to rescue this dog! So, $2,500.00 later in veterinarian bills, I have a new member of my family. I am so excited!”
“That’s great!” Simon said as he asked if she wanted to go down the street to get coffee. “No thanks,” she said. “I don’t want to walk by those people in their tents. You know, really, I can’t stand the homeless. They need to get a job! And they smell.”
