The art of A.T. Johnson can best be described as “Conceptual Art.” The artist’s focus is that of social, political and religious commentary.
The artist was born and raised in Los Angeles, California and is the 6th sibling of eleven brothers and sisters. He was raised by politically astute parents who were politically outspoken. The artist’s father was a founding member of the “Golden Gate Quartet,” who were the first, African American men to entertain at the White House. The artist’s father was instrumental in the career of Elvis Presley, and the group appeared in numerous films and late-night television.
The artist attended 12 years of catholic school and was a licensed chiropractor with a 20-year practice. The artist is also a writer. The artist’s degree is in Communication and Journalism and as artist go, he is considered an “outsider” because of no formal fine art’s training or degree.
The artist’s inspiration comes from current events that have a profound effect on society. The artist’s works also reflects the difficult plight of especially black men and people of color.
The artist politically is a left-leaning liberal who supports the rights of women, all minorities, the LGBT community and those whose voices are drowned out by the chatter of unreasonableness.
The art is just a medium to convey an opinion or examination of political events.
